White House Economic Adviser Kevin Hassett is touting the potential impact of the USMCA trade deal by expressing confidence it will receive congressional approval.

During an interview Monday, Hassett pointed out the U.S. International Trade Commission’s report on the deal said it’s economic effect is double the impact of anything it’s ever assessed before. He also suggested the report will help get some people on the fence to vote for the agreement. The economic adviser urged House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to bring it to the floor, so it can be passed.

Hasset also noted lawmakers have a chance for a “real reasonable bipartisan moment” in regards to passing the deal.

“There’s broad bipartisan support for economic policies that help blue collar workers, help manufacturing make the economy stronger,” he stated.

Hassett also said the administration is now “much more optimistic” about the deal’s chances of passing — more so than last week.
