Video: Trump plane carrying J.D. Vance makes emergency landing

Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), the 2024 Republican vice presidential nominee, was forced to make an emergency landing on Friday after a “malfunction” was reported on Trump Force Two.

The Daily Mail reported that Vance’s Boeing 737 was forced to turn around and land in Milwaukee, where the vice presidential nominee had previously met with local police officers.

“The pilot advised there was a malfunction with the door seal. After declaring an emergency, Trump Force Two returned to Milwaukee,” Taylor Van Kirk, a Vance spokesperson, said. “As soon as the issue was resolved, the plane returned to its originally planned flight path back to Cincinnati.”

According to WISN, Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport officials said the airplane, which is operated by Eastern Air, returned to the Milwaukee airport at roughly 1:30 p.m. due to an issue with the aircraft. Officials added that the Boeing 737 landed normally and was taxied without any issues.

Journalist Asher Heimermann witnessed Friday’s emergency landing and shared a video of Trump Force Two, tweeting, “Vice Presidential Candidate J.D. Vance’s plane has made an emergency landing at Milwaukee’s Mitchell International Airport. ARFF responded, Trump Force Two landed safely.”

In another post, Heimermann said that airport firefighters inspected the plane after the emergency landing.

“Milwaukee County Fire Department (ARFF) responded to the Boeing 737 on the tarmac,” Heimermann reported. “43 souls on board per scanner traffic. J.D. Vance’s plane started to turn back near Racine and declared emergency landing.”

In a final update on X, formerly Twitter, Heimermann said Trump Force Two was being taxied to a hanger at the airport.

WISN reported that the plane was cleared for takeoff at roughly 2:15 p.m.

Friday’s incident with Vance’s plane comes just one week after former President Donald Trump’s airplane, Trump Force One, was diverted due to a mechanical issue that forced the plane to land in Billings, Montana, instead of Bozeman, Montana, ahead of a campaign rally intended to boost GOP Senate candidate Tim Sheehy.
