Video: Holocaust survivor slams Harris for comparing Trump to Hitler

A new video shows a Holocaust survivor criticizing Vice President Kamala Harris for comparing former President Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler.

In a video shared on X, formerly Twitter, Jerry Wartski, a 94-year-old who survived the Nazi German Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland and who serves as the Israel Heritage Foundation’s honorary president, described Harris’ recent claims comparing Trump to Hitler as “the worst thing” he had ever heard in 75 years of living in the United States.

During a CNN town hall last week with CNN host Anderson Cooper, Harris claimed that Trump was a “fascist” and repeated a controversial claim from former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly that Trump said he wanted American generals to be like Hitler’s generals.

“If the President of the United States, the commander in chief, is saying to his generals, in essence, ‘Why can’t you be more like Hitler’s generals?’ Anderson, come on,” Harris said. “This is a serious, serious issue.”

The vice president also suggested during the town hall that Trump was “comparing” himself “in a clearly admiring way to Hitler.” The Daily Wire noted that the controversial report Harris referenced has been heavily disputed by the Trump campaign.

Addressing the Harris campaign’s recent comparison between Trump and Hitler, Wartski said, “Adolf Hitler invaded Poland when I was nine years old. He murdered my parents and most of our family. I know more about Hitler than Kamala will ever know in a thousand lifetimes.”

Wartski added, “For her to accuse President Trump of being like Hitler is the worst thing I ever heard in my 75 years living in the United States. I know President Trump, and he would never say this, and Kamala Harris knows that. She owes my parents and everybody else who was murdered by Hitler an apology for repeating this lie.”

Asked why Jewish voters should support the former president in the 2024 election, Wartski said, “Because he’s a mensch.” According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, “mensch” is a Yiddish term that means “a person of integrity and honor.”

Wartski explained that he believes Trump will be “good for Israel” since everything Trump has “done up to now” has been done “in favor” of Israel.

“He never double-crossed anyone, and he never showed any weakness,” Wartski added. “Watching President Trump pray for the hostages at the Ohel and getting to spend time with him [was] so meaningful. He has always stood with the Jewish people and the State of Israel.”
