President Donald Trump vowed to end “every last COVID mandate” in the country while speaking at a Selma, North Carolina rally Saturday night.
Trump, asserting that Republicans will retake Congress in November, stated: “One of the first things that we will do with our new Republican majorities is to end every last COVID mandate. And we will pass a bill making it illegal for any employer to interfere in personal health decisions or to fire employees for not having the vaccine.”
The crowd roared in response, signaling its approval.
Trump’s remarks came following two years of Covid-19 mandates and restrictions being pushed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), many of which have been inconsistent and sparked controversy.
In California, an extreme bill that would require all workers and independent contractors in the state to be vaccinated against Covid-19 was recently halted in light of “concerns raised by the bill.”
With people around the country and the world increasingly fighting back against such mandates, the issue is likely to be a major topic of debate this election season.
