Donald Trump plans to resume his rallies in June as the former president continues hinting at a 2024 presidential run, the New York Post reported Thursday.
A source familiar with the plans told the Post that Trump’s team is reviewing possible venues for multiple events next month, although dates and times have yet to be announced. The team also intends to hold a third rally around Independence Day.
Trump has also hinted at running for the nation’s top office in 2024 once again, telling The Daily Wire’s Candace Owens that he was “enthused” about the prospects of another campaign.
“I look forward to doing an announcement at the right time,” Trump told Owens. “As you know, it’s very early. But I think people are going to be very, very happy when I make a certain announcement. You know, for campaign finance reasons, you really can’t do it too early because it becomes a whole different thing.
“Otherwise, I’d give you an answer that I think you’d be very happy with,” he added. “So, we are looking at that very, very seriously, and all I’d say is stay tuned.”
On Thursday, Trump again hinted at running for president in 2024, telling WABC radio host Rita Cosby, “I think people will be very happy with my decision … I’ve done a great job for the American people. They understand that … I look forward to making people very happy.”
Last month, Trump told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo that he was “100 percent” considering another presidential run, adding that he would “certainly” considering Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as his vice presidential pick.
“I endorsed Ron and after I endorsed him he took off like a rocket ship,” Trump continued. “He’s done a great job as governor.”
Former President Trump went on to say that if he runs in 2024, his platform would include protecting Second Amendment rights, securing the U.S.-Mexico border, taxes and the energy industry.
“Your gasoline prices, look what’s happening to them. They’re going up, through the roof in a short period of time,” Trump said. “I had them down below $2 and we still had a strong energy industry. Now they’re [the Biden administration is] laying everybody off.”
During his campaign and throughout his presidency, hundreds of thousands of Americans attended Trump’s signature rallies. The last event held by the former president took place in Washington, D.C., on January 6, when thousands of his supporters descended upon the nation’s capital for a “Stop the Steal” rally to protest certifying the 2020 presidential election and officially declaring Joe Biden as president-elect.
