Former President Donald Trump claimed that Attorney General Bill Barr refused to investigate his claims of voter fraud due to his fear of being impeached.
‘Look, we also had a chance, but Bill Barr, the attorney general, didn’t want to be impeached. They were vicious with him,’ Trump said during an interview with Sean Hannity on Wednesday night.
Trump told Barr that impeaching him would only boost his approval ratings.
‘I said, “Look, get impeached. I went up a lot in the polls when I got impeached. You have to get impeached, maybe,”‘ Trump said, referring to his first impeachment, after which his approval ratings increased. ‘But he was so afraid of being impeached that he refused to do his job.’
On December 1, 2020, Barr said there was no evidence of widespread election fraud, which Trump cited to make a case against conceding the election to Biden.
‘How do you not get impeached?’ Trump reflected. ‘You sit back and relax and wait out for your term to end. That’s what he did. And it was a sad thing and a sad day for our country.’
‘Then he writes a crummy book, which was so false,’ Trump added. ‘But you know what? Had Bill Barr had the courage, a lot of this could’ve been taken care of.’
Last month, Barr’s memoir One Damn Thing After Another was published.
Barr said during his press tour that Trump is ‘not my idea of a president.’
Barr said he predicted that Trump would lose the 2020 election, also.
‘I felt he was going to lose the election because he was not controlling himself,’ Barr told CNN’s Jake Tapper. ‘He was allowing his pettiness to come through, and I feel it’s one of his great failings.’
While Barr believes Republicans will be able to win back the White House in 2024 – he doesn’t believe Trump can do it.
‘I think the Republicans can win a decisive majority, but I don’t think we can do it with Trump,’ Barr stated. ‘He’s just too divisive a candidate.’
As part of his interview with Hannity, Trump declared that if re-elected in 2024, he would be less attentive to the media.
Additionally, he accused former President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden of forging a dangerous alliance between Russia and China.
According to Trump, he has been persecuted worse than ‘Al Capone, Jesse James, and Billy the Kid put together.’
According to him, Obama and Biden made many mistakes with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping, saying they had ‘drove those two big monsters together.’
Trump, who has said he is still weighing whether to run in 2024, was asked by Hannity what he would change if he won a second term.
‘I think one of the things I would do differently is that I found the media is so corrupt, that I would really not focus on them almost at all – I just focus on getting the job done for the American people,’ he stated.
‘You cater to the media, you deal with the media. They’re very dishonest, they write the opposite things, they have sources that aren’t sources. They’re an unbelievably dishonest – hence the name fake news.
‘I think really I would be focused on getting the job done, getting our country back – our country has never been in a position that it is right now, with disrespected all over the world.’

Trump said the media had cheated him by failing to report on Hunter Biden’s business dealings while obsessing instead over the ‘Russia, Russia, Russia hoax’.
Lawsuits filed against him angered him as well.
‘I’ve gone through, in five years, more investigations than Al Capone, Jesse James, and Billy the Kid put together,’ he said at which Hannity laughed.
‘If I fly over a Democrat state in my airplane, I end up before a grand jury.
‘It’s a disgrace, and the people of this country aren’t going to take it.
‘They have weaponized law enforcement, essentially.’
During his remarks, he attacked his former attorney general Bill Barr for being scared of impeachment. He said that he told the attorney general not to worry because impeachment had enhanced his ratings.
In regard to Ukraine, Trump emphasized that he had strengthened NATO by making members pay their fair share. He also warned former German chancellor Angela Merkel against relying too heavily on Russia for oil.
‘Don’t forget, I rebuilt NATO,’ he emphasized.
‘Because when I became president, the first thing I noticed when I went there to the first meeting was that most of the countries were not paying – they were paying far less than they were supposed to.’
Additionally, he emphasized his defense budget and commitment to energy independence. He mocked Joe Biden for his advocacy of green energy, insisting it was inadequate for America to meet its needs.
‘They don’t have the power to fuel our great factories and to build our great businesses,’ he explained.
