In an interview with Newsmax on Thursday, former President Donald Trump expressed his dissatisfaction with the process of having his photograph taken at the Fulton County Jail, describing it as a distressing encounter.
It was a “terrible experience,” Trump said while speaking to host Greg Kelly on Newsmax’s “Greg Kelly Reports.” “I never heard the words ‘mug shot.’ They didn’t teach me that at the Wharton School of Finance,” Trump joked.
“It’s a very sad experience, and it’s a very sad day for our country. This is a weaponized Justice Department,” he added.
The ex-president underwent the process of fingerprinting, booking, and photography at the Atlanta jailhouse, which took place at approximately 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday. The individual in question was granted release on a bail amounting to $200,000.
Trump’s capitulation follows an indictment by a grand jury, prompted by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, on charges of purportedly attempting to subvert the outcome of the 2020 election.
“It’s just like one thing after the next,” Trump said in regards to the charges. “And what they want to do is they want to try and wear you out … just an absolute horrible thing that they’re doing. And I’ve never seen anything like it. This is a Third World country.”
Donald Trump is currently confronted with allegations stemming from a New York City indictment led by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who has received support from George Soros. Additionally, special counsel Jack Smith has acquired two other indictments against Trump.
In addition to facing legal action from New York Attorney General Letitia James about charges of fraud within the Trump Organization, President Trump is now confronted with a defamation case filed by E. Jean Carroll.
Trump added that Willis “…is a radical left district attorney, as we have in New York and as we have in all the other places, whether it’s a district attorney or [attorneys general], that we have that in New York. They’re going after [me] all for nothing.
“I mean, the case — they have no case against me at all. They do it to try and get elected,” Trump said of James’ lawsuit. “But they also do it in coordination with the Department of Injustice in Washington.”
The former president added, “This is a cheating that’s going to be election interference, and I think what’s happening is there’s really been a backlash against it. I’ve seen tremendous backlash.”
He also told Kelly, “Not only on your show, and you’ve been so incredible, but on so many shows that you wouldn’t even think about it, and articles, where even Democrats say, ‘Don’t do it. Don’t do it, please. You’re making a terrible mistake.’”
