Nearly a year after Gabby Petito’s interaction with Moab Police, her family files a $50 million wrongful death suit. Lawyers for the family outlined the plans Monday and said they are suing the Moab Utah Police for negligence of the law and how to enforce it. They said their goal is to hold government entities accountable and raise awareness of intimate partner violence and its dangers. Gabby first interacted with Moab Police on August 12, 2020 when they responded to a domestic dispute call.

Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney (R) released a campaign ad seemingly forgetting to mention her home state. In the ad, Cheney’s father former Vice President Dick Cheney, attacked former President Trump, calling him a coward and a liar. Cheney spent more than half of the one minute ad talking about Trump and never mentioned the Cowboy State.
Sen. Barrasso slams Biden’s NEPA regulations
Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) decried President Biden’s latest environmental regulations while speaking at the Senate Republican Leadership Conference on Tuesday. He called out Biden for slowing down Americas economic growth and claimed the President’s new National Environmental Policy Act increased restrictions on infrastructure projects, which in turn burdened the US economy.
McKinney Fire in N. Calif. leaves two dead
Two people are dead and thousands more evacuated as firefighters battle California’s largest fire this season. Governor Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) declared a state of emergency Saturday, as the McKinney Fire burning near the California-Oregon border continued to rage out of control. More than 55,000 acres have been charred since the flames broke out Friday. Crews found the bodies of two people in a burned-out vehicle Sunday morning.
