Senate votes to pass PACT Act despite GOP concerns

In an 86 to 11 vote on Tuesday, senators from both sides of the aisle agreed to push the legislation forward after being delayed due to concerns from Republican senators about $400 billion discretionary spending clause placed in the bill.

Senate Republicans agree to hold off on confirming any more federal judges, in exchange for Democrat support on dozens of other nominations.

The deal struck between Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer, allowed the upper chamber to clear 77 nominees by voice vote on Wednesday night.

Congressional leaders to attend border security meeting at white house

Congressional leaders will be at the White House for a briefing on border security.

Senior officials from the Department of Homeland Security will lead Wednesday’s meeting amid calls from Pres. Trump for Democrats to make a deal to fund the government and the border wall. Democrats, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D – N.Y.) and House Speaker-designate Nancy Pelosi (D – Calif.) are expected to attend alongside Republican leadership.

President Trump plans to cut off aid to Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador

President Trump is calling on Democrats to fund the border wall. He made the remarks in a tweet Friday morning, adding, the U.S. will be forced to close the southern border entirely if obstructionist Democrats don’t comply. He also blasted the current immigration laws by saying we need to change them.

In another tweet, the president said the U.S. will be cutting off aid to Honduras, Guatemala as well as El Salvador, which he said has done nothing but take money from the U.S.
