Second Trump assassination attempt in Florida; Trump responds

Authorities confirmed a second assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump took place on Sunday afternoon while the leading 2024 presidential candidate was golfing at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.

In a message posted on his campaign website, Trump said he was unharmed in the second assassination attempt in two months.

“I am Donald J. Trump. FEAR NOT! I am safe and well, and no one was hurt. Thank God. But, there are people in this world who will do whatever it takes to stop us. I will not stop fighting for you. I will Never Surrender! I will always love you for supporting me,” Trump’s message read. “Through our UNITY we will Make America Great Again!”

Authorities shared photos showing an AK-47 rifle, multiple bags and a GoPro camera hidden in a secret location near Trump’s golf course. The gear belonged to the attempted assassin, authorities said.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) blamed the “radical left” for the attack and urged Trump supporters not to “bow down to intimidation, violence, and persecution.”

“The radical left had continued to label Republicans and Americans who simply want to have a safe and prosperous country as ‘threats to democracy.’ This irresponsible rhetoric is causing people to get hurt. This election is absolutely one of the most important elections in our history,” Paulina wrote in a post on X. “We cannot bow down to intimidation, violence, and persecution. We must stand strong and bring home the win this November. Our family is praying for President Trump as he has taken on a monumental task.”
