Press Secretary Sarah Sanders recently returned fire at CNN contributor and White House reporter April Ryan.
In an interview Monday, Sanders said Ryan’s recent inflammatory comments toward her prove why the journalist is not taken seriously. She went on to say she felt sorry for Ryan, adding, she seemed desperate to launch an attack at the White House after Democrats “lost the collusion battle.”
This comes after Ryan made an off-color comment, appearing to call for Sanders to have her head “lopped off.”
“The American people can’t trust her, they can’t trust what’s said from the president’s mouthpiece spokesperson from the people’s house, therefore she should be let go, she should be fired — end of story,” stated Ryan. “When there is a lack of credibility there, you have to start…lopping the heads off.”
Sanders followed up saying her staff needs to remain focus on issues that actually help Americans, and not succumb to “petty fights” with journalists that “shouldn’t be taken seriously.”
