According to reports, Neomi Rao was recommendedto serve on the D.C. Circuit by former White House counsel Don McGahn.

Rao is currently an administrator for a sub-agency of the Office of Management and Budget, and was a former clerk for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

President Trump has appointed multiple federal judges, spending his first year in office filling seats at the Supreme, District and Appellate Court levels.

“But the court system’s very important — I’m going to be appointing and have appointed a record number of judges,” said the president. “We’re going to be district court judges, we have Court of Appeals, we have Supreme Court, of course.

Two sources close to the matter are saying the president was not impressed by Rao, but a third source reported there is still a possibility she will be chosen.
