Michigan workers will likely have to wait a little longer to see a boost in their pay checks after state senators voted to postpone a minimum wage hike.

The Republican controlled state Senate approved two bills on Wednesday in a 26-to-12 vote.

The first bill would postpone a minimum wage increase, which was set to reach $12 an hour by 2022. The measure would extended the increase until 2030.

The second bill they approved would cut the paid sick time employees accrue down to one-hour for every 40-hours worked. It would also exempt small businesses from being required to provide paid sick leave.

The two bills will now head to the Michigan state House, where they are expected to pass.
