Second Lady Karen Pence has spent the past 25 years as a schoolteacher and has traveled the State of Indiana visiting and shining the spotlight on the positive advancements being made.  Mrs. Pence holds two degrees from Butler University, a Bachelor in Science and Masters in Science in elementary education.  She has served as First Lady to the State of Indiana as wife of Governor Mike Pence, and also as mother to three adult children, Michael, Charlotte and Audrey.

In addition to her time in public service, Mrs. Pence is an artist and small business owner.  Her specialty is watercolors of homes and historical buildings.  Mrs. Pence is honorary chair of the Art Therapy Initiative at Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis as well as a member of Riley Children’s Foundation Board.  She also serves as a board member for Tracy’s Kids, an art therapy program for several children’s hospitals in Washington, D.C.

In her role as First Lady of Indiana, Mrs. Pence created the Indiana First Lady’s Charitable Foundation. The purpose of the Foundation, which was organized in August of 2013 as a 501(c)(3), is to encourage and support youth and families of Indiana.  The beneficiaries include individuals, schools, communities, families, and family support organizations, along with arts organizations.  The Foundation was created to foster an even better understanding of and love for the State of Indiana, while encouraging and supporting Hoosiers wanting to be better citizens.  The Foundation’s board is awarding these types of individuals and organizations through scholarships, awards, and grants.

Second Lady Elect Pence shares the views of her husband that fiscal responsibility, better education, and economic growth are the keys to restoring prosperity for Americans.
