The past year has had ups and downs for the Trump family. Ivana Trump, former President Donald Trump’s ex-wife, passed away in mid-July at the age of 73. Daughter Ivanka Trump paid tribute to her mother with a social media post, describing herself as “heartbroken” over her death. “Mom was brilliant, charming, passionate, and wickedly funny. She lived life to the fullest — never forgoing an opportunity to laugh and dance,” Ivanka said. “I will miss her forever,” Ivanka said, “and will keep her memory alive in our hearts always.”
Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, had served under President Trump as advisors during his previous administration, but have lately taken time out from politics to focus on their family and private life. The two are still at work, however, and a recent event in the life of their son saw them rushing from business to his side.
Former First Daughter Ivanka Trump revealed her son, Theo, was rushed to the hospital. Making matters worse, Ivanka Trump said she was “an hour away” when she got the call from his school that he had broken his wrist, Conservative Brief reports.
“This week I received a call from the school nurse that every parent dreads. My 6-year-old son Theo broke his wrist while playing soccer. Since I was over an hour’s drive away, an ambulance took Theo, accompanied by the school nurse, to the closest hospital. Jared and I raced to meet him, Jared arriving at the same time as the ambulance and me getting there a few minutes later,” Ivanka posted on Instagram.
“It was a bad break, but the capable EMT, doctors, nurses, and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital staff cared for Theo tenderly and professionally. Theo’s visit culminated with two ice pops, which led to him declaring ‘this is the best day ever!’ The nurse turned to me and said, ‘This is why I’m in pediatrics! No adult in the emergency room has ever said something like that when given an ice pop,’” she added.
“Jared and I are so grateful to the doctors, nurses, EMTs, and hospital staff who cared for our son. With gratitude in our hearts, we have made a donation to the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. The death of the mother of Ivanka and most of her siblings has had a profound effect on her in regard to the loss within the family. Ivanka also posted a touching tribute to her mother over the Christmas holiday. “This is the first holiday season since the passing of my mother. It’s true: grief during the holidays can be harder than any other time of the year,” she began.
“Learning to celebrate differently is a challenge. I am trying to be kind, patient and compassionate with myself and honor and make space for all of the emotions I am experiencing. New memories are being made, my children’s laughter is abundant, my 96-year-old grandma’s presence at our table brings us all joy, yet the void is undeniable. The loss of a parent is one of life’s very painful passages for which one is never fully prepared. It hits at the very core of your being. And it takes a good amount of time to emerge from how it dislocates you,” her Instagram post continued. “To all who have experienced the loss of a loved one this year, may hope sustain you, may good memories provide you comfort, may friends and family surround you, and may love give you strength,” she added.
Ivanka had also addressed the fact that she and her husband are pulling back on politics at this time, and want to spend more time with family as their children are young.
“I love my father very much,” Ivanka said. “This time around, I am choosing to prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating as a family. I do not plan to be involved in politics.” “While I will always love and support my father, going forward I will do so outside the political arena,” she added, per the Daily Wire. “I am grateful to have had the honor of serving the American people and I will always be proud of many of our Administration’s accomplishments.” She told Fox News that she is close to her dad and that he “hasn’t changed and will never change.”
