Eli Manning’s perfect one-word response to Tom Brady’s Super Bowl regret

Tom Brady said during the NFL’s Draft-a-Thon that he would trade Super Bowl rings for the one undefeated season that was spoiled by Manning and the Giants.

“I would, let’s be real,” the seven-time Super Bowl champion said when asked about the hypothetical on the draft-night Zoom call with other players and celebrities.

When NBC Sports tweeted out the quote, Manning responded “never.”

“Never” also sums up the chances many gave the Giants heading into that Super Bowl XLII matchup. Those 18-0 Patriots had the MVP Brady at his peak with Randy Moss at his disposal, and were routinely decimating opponents.

The Giants were a wild-card team, coming off three road upsets of the Buccaneers, Cowboys and Packers. But the Giants defense was able to pressure Brady that entire February 2008 night and Manning led the team to a game-winning touchdown drive in the final minutes — thank you, helmet catch — for the 17-14 shocker.
