Congressional leaders to attend border security meeting at white house

Congressional leaders will be at the White House for a briefing on border security.

Senior officials from the Department of Homeland Security will lead Wednesday’s meeting amid calls from Pres. Trump for Democrats to make a deal to fund the government and the border wall. Democrats, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D – N.Y.) and House Speaker-designate Nancy Pelosi (D – Calif.) are expected to attend alongside Republican leadership.

DHS Secretary: Migrants bringing ill children sparks humanitarian crisis

DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen says migrant caravans have produced a humanitarian crisis at the United States-Mexico border.

On Twitter, Nielsen said an increasing number of children with illnesses are arriving illegally. The Secretary urged congress to end the 1997 Flores ruling, which the DHS believes encourages migrants to bring children into the United States.

Sen. Lindsey Graham feels “a lot better” about Syria now that he’s talked to President Trump

Image result for lindsey grahamSen. Lindsey Graham(R-S.C.) said Sunday that he feels better about the U.S. strategy in Syria after meeting with at the White House for a private lunch.

“We talked about Syria and he told me some things I didn’t know that made me feel a lot better about where we’re headed in Syria,” Graham told reporters.

“He promised to destroy ISIS [the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria]. He’s going to keep that promise,” Graham continued. “We’re not there yet, but as I said today we’re inside the 10-yard line, and the president understands the need to finish the job.”

Ten foot wall around President Obama's housePresident Trump, on Sunday, referenced reports of a privacy “wall” built around President Obama’s Washington, D.C., home to justify the construction of a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, as he continues to push for funding the structure amid a partial government shutdown.
