‘BULLSH*T’: Fired Up MTG Goes Off Over Jack Smith’s Latest Move Against Trump

On Tuesday, former President Donald Trump said that Special Counsel Jack Smith had sent him a “target” letter, suggesting that he will soon be detained and charged with crimes linked to the protest that took place on January 6 at the U.S. Capitol Building.

Trump made an appearance on at a town hall on Tuesday and relayed to Fox News’ Sean Hannity that he got the letter on Sunday.

“It bothers me,” Trump began. “I got the letter on Sunday night. Think of it, I don’t think they’ve ever sent a letter on Sunday night. And they’re in a rush because they want to interfere, it’s election interference, never been done like this in the history of our country and it’s a disgrace what’s happening to our country.”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, a Republican, responded candidly after Trump said on Tuesday that he thought the Justice Department of his main political foe was poised to arrest him once more.

According to Trump, the Sunday letter gave him “4 days to report to the Grand Jury,” according to a report by Fox News.

Greene was approached to comment on the impending indictment by a reporter.

“It’s absolute bullsh*t, that’s my reaction. This is the only way that the Democrats have to beat President Trump, is to arrest him, smear him, charge him with ridiculous charges all on a coverup of Joe Biden’s crimes, Hunter Biden’s crimes. It’s unbelievable. It’s hard to even recognize that this is our country,” Greene blasted.

“The American people are going to be furious. And what Jack Smith is doing is the weaponized government. And he’s weaponizing the Department of Justice against President Trump in a complete lie about President Trump and January 6th. And it’s outrageous, I can’t believe our country has to endure this, and I’ll be standing with President Trump the entire way,” she declared.

She was subsequently asked if she believed that federal charges brought against Trump for purportedly handling sensitive documents were going to be more severe than those brought against him for the Capitol riot on January 6, to which she replied that she believed they would.

“The charges they’re looking at bringing against him, they arrested people from January 6th, they held them pre-trial, they never let them out on bail, and the question that I want to ask Jack Smith is, is this the plan? Are they going to arrest President Trump? Charge him with phony fake charges and hold him in prison while he is winning the Republican primary?” she questioned.

Rep. Matt Gaetz, (R-FL), has put forward legislation aiming to defund the current investigation by Smith in anticipation of a potential new indictment because he is tired of the Biden Justice Department’s unusual persecution of Trump.

Gaetz’s bill comes at a time when Robert Hur, a special counsel assigned by AG Merrick Garland to look into Joe Biden’s improper handling of sensitive records, hasn’t made much noise since he was given authorization in January. It also happens at the same time as Trump’s Tuesday prediction that Smith would shortly indict him in relation to the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021.

Only a few hours following Trump’s revelation on Truth Social, Gaetz posted on Twitter, “I will be introducing legislation to DEFUND Jack Smith’s witch hunt against President Trump.”

“They are attacking our democracy and engaging in election interference right now. The United States Congress has the capability to stop this election interference, and we must act immediately!” Gaetz declared forcefully.

Gaetz contended that if Trump weren’t ahead of Biden in an increasing number of polls in a podcast clip that was shared with his comments, he wouldn’t be in such legal danger.

The Republican lawmaker also criticized the Justice Department for its “lack of transparency” concerning the investigation’s actual participants, citing worries about “the team of vicious Democrats” who had a role in special counsel Robert Mueller’s “Russia collusion” investigation into Trump’s 2016 campaign.

On Wednesday, leftwing CNN reported that “Trump’s lawyers and advisers are trying to figure out if there is evidence and witnesses they are unaware of that are bolstering special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into efforts to overturn the 2020 election, according to multiple sources familiar with Trump team’s legal conversation.”

The potential charges listed in the target letter suggest the special counsel will prosecute a bigger case against Trump than the former president’s team was expecting, given the evidence they are aware of. That has led to questions if there is evidence or testimony they don’t know about, the sources said.

Trump’s team of lawyers and advisers have tried to keep close tabs on investigation. The former president’s political action committee has underwritten legal costs for multiple witnesses, which has given them some insight into what has been shared with Smith’s team.

On Tuesday, comments made by Florida GOP Governor Ron DeSantis about Trump in relation to the violence at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, caused a social media uproar.

DeSantis, who’s campaign for the GOP nomination for president in 2024 is faltering, asserted that Trump might have responded to the disturbance more “forcefully” during a press conference in South Carolina.

DeSantis advocated against prosecuting Trump for his actions despite suggesting that he ought to have acted more that day.
