Hunter Biden’s controversial overseas business dealings have long been a source of controversy for Joe Biden and the White House. But there are a ton of times when Joe Biden had to know what Hunter was up to.
University letter
It was revealed on Wednesday that Hunter Biden got the father of a powerful Chinese business associate to write a recommendation letter to Brown University for Jonathan Li, the son of that business associate.
“Jonathan, Hunter asked me to send you a copy of the recommendation letter that he asked his father to write on behalf of Christopher for Brown University,” Eric Schwerin, Hunter’s then-business partner, wrote to Jonathan Li on Feb. 18, 2017, in an email first obtained by Fox News.
Li was told by Schwerin that the “original” was being shipped directly to Brown’s university president Christina Paxson by FedEx.
Li is the chief executive of BHR Partners Ltd., a Chinese investment firm that established an equity investment fund — Bohai Harvest RST (Shanghai) Equity Investment Fund Management Co., known as BHR — in which Hunter Biden was a founding partner and possessed a 10% stake through Skaneateles LLC.
University Two
Additionally, Hunter Biden arranged to have his father write a letter to Georgetown University – Hunter’s alma mater – on behalf of Li’s daughter, but neither child was accepted.
Joe on Hunter’s Ukraine job
In a 2019 New Yorker article, Hunter Biden acknowledged that he and his dad once talked about Hunter’s position on the board of Ukrainian energy giant Burisma Holdings, which paid Hunter as much as $83,333 a month when Joe Biden was vice president under President Obama.
“Dad said, ‘I hope you know what you are doing,’ and I said, ‘I do,’ ” he recounted.
Asia trip
In December 2013, Hunter traveled to China with his daughter Finnegan Biden on Air Force Two, along with then-Vice President Joe Biden, on an official, six-day trip to Asia. In the hotel lobby of the hotel where the American delegation was staying, Joe was introduced to Li by Hunter. He also met Chinese President Xi Jinping and other officials in Beijing.
Angry Hunter
Hunter Biden wrote angrily in a text message to his daughter Naomi in 2019, “I hope you all can do what I did and pay for everything for this entire family for 30 years.” He continued, “It’s really hard. But don’t worry, unlike Pop [Joe], I won’t make you give me half your salary.”
According to a report this week, White House chief of staff Ron Klain offered Hunter Biden $20,000 to help raise money for the organization that manages the vice president’s official abode.
Devon Archer
During Joe Biden’s term as vice president, he met with Devon Archer, Hunter’s partner and Burisma board member, in April 2014, around the same time Archer joined the board and shortly before Hunter did.
Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, and Archer Biden were captured with golf clubs in a picture that reportedly surfaced more than five years later in the Hamptons.
According to court documents, Archer was sentenced to a year and a day in prison in February for a bond fraud scheme that targeted the impoverished Oglala Sioux tribe of American Indians.
Burisma
In an email dated April 17, 2015, Vadym Pozharskyi, an executive at Burisma and an adviser to its board, wrote, “Dear Hunter, thank you for inviting me to DC and giving an opportunity to meet your father and spent [sic] some time together. It’s realty [sic] an honor and pleasure.”
Oligarch
Joe Biden had attended a dinner at Washington, DC’s Cafe Milano earlier that day with his son’s Ukrainian, Russian and Kazakh business associates.
The Bidens are photographed posing with Kazakhstani oligarch Kenes “Kenges” Rakishev and Kazakh ex-prime minister Karim Massimov, according to an unverified photo.
Bobulinski
Tony Bobulinski, who was once a business partner of Hunter’s, revealed in October 2020 he spoke with Joe Biden in May 2017 after being introduced by Hunter, who reportedly called him “the one who’s helping us with the business we’re doing with the Chinese.”
According to Bobulinski – who identified Joe as the big guy with a 10 percent stake in the CEFC China Energy deal – the former vice president instructed him, “Keep an eye on my son and brother and look out for my family.”
Office
According to emails, Hunter asked for a new sign and additional keys to an office he was renting at the building where the Swedish Embassy is in Washington, DC.
On the sign was to be written, “The Biden Foundation and Hudson West (CEFC-US)” with keys to go to Joe, Jill Biden, his uncle James Biden, and Chinese businessman Gongwen Dong.
Business partners
During his term as vice president, Joe hosted a group of his son’s Mexican business partners at his official residence and posed for a photo with Hunter and a group of prospective business partners, including Mexican billionaires Carlos Slim and Miguel German Velasco.
Angry Hunter 2
From Air Force Two, Hunter Biden messaged Velasco’s son in 2016, while the plane was on its way to Mexico for an official visit. Hunter vented to the younger Velasco about not receiving any favors in return for getting people into top places in DC. “I have brought every single person you have ever asked me to bring to the F’ing White House, Vice President’s house, inauguration.”
