ACLU Supports Use of Castration Drugs on Trans Kids But Not Sex Offenders

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which had previously opposed using a medicine to chemically castrate sex offenders, is now in favor of allowing kids to use the chemically castrating drugs as puberty inhibitors.

The ACLU was a vocal opponent of an Alabama law that required chemical castration for some convicted sex offenders just a year ago.

Medroxyprogesterone acetate, the medication that intended to be used for chemical castration, is also used to prevent puberty. The medication “is a widely used progestin in feminizing hormone therapy,” according to one study.

However, despite the ACLU’s outspoken opposition to the use of medroxyprogesterone acetate on convicted sex offenders, the group has deemed “gender affirming treatment,” which includes the use of puberty blockers, to be “medically necessary” and even “life saving” for children.

The deputy director of the ACLU LGBTQ and HIV Project, Chase Strangio, advocated on the group’s behalf for what is euphemistically referred to as “gender affirming care.”

In a lawsuit against Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s order declaring that attempts to have sex with minors constitute child abuse, the ACLU was joined by two other organizations.

The prescription of medications that are taken off-label as puberty blockers is a common medical intervention for children who struggle with gender dysphoria.

But there are other medications that have been used for both chemical castration and puberty prevention in addition to medroxyprogesterone acetate.

The drug Lupron, also known as leuprolide acetate, is frequently used off-label to prevent puberty. Sex offenders have also been chemically castrated using this method.

A lefty, transgender billionaire called Jennifer Pritzker gave the ACLU a six-figure donation last year.

The transgender cause has been supported by a number of other Pritzker family members, and the Pritzker Foundation has donated $15 million to Chicago’s Lurie Children’s Hospital, which supports sex transition initiatives.

Pritzker’s $101,000 donation to the ACLU was made explicitly to oppose Tennessee’s so-called “anti-transgender” laws. The heir of a medical technology firm, Jon Stryker, also gave the ACLU $15 million to support its efforts to fight state laws that are opposed to transgender ideology.
