President-elect Donald Trump tweeted praise for the legendary band of Alabama’s favorite sons.
Trump thanked the southern-rock band Alabama – the boys from Fort Payne fronted by Randy Owen – for a wonderful performance at the Chairman’s Global Dinner in Washington on Tuesday night.
The band was founded by Randy Owen (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) and his cousin Teddy Gentry (bass guitar, background vocals). They were soon joined by their other cousin, Jeff Cook (lead guitar, fiddle, and keyboards). First operating under the name Wild Country, the group toured the Southeast bar circuit in the early 1970s, and began writing original songs. They changed their name to Alabama in 1977.
.@TheAlabamaBand was great last night in D.C. playing for 147 Diplomats and Ambassadors from countries around the world. Thanks Alabama!

It was reported in The Wall Street Journal, the dinner was a black-tie, invitation-only affair aimed at introducing foreign diplomats to Trump’s incoming administration. Dignitaries from around the world were treated to some of the best rock music that America has to offer.
