100+ Navy SEAL vets plan march to support Trump’s defense secretary nominee

Over 100 Navy SEAL veterans are planning on marching in Washington, D.C., next month alongside other U.S. veterans to support Pete Hegseth, President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for defense secretary, amid mainstream media’s smear campaign to pressure Republican senators to vote against Hegseth’s confirmation.

Alec Lace, host of “The Alec Lace Show” and a friend of Trump’s nominee, told Breitbart that the march is being organized by Navy SEAL veteran Bill “Freak” Brown, who founded the New York City SEAL Swim across the Hudson River. The outlet noted that Hegseth has participated in the swimming event for multiple years.

“Pete Hegseth has been a monumental part of promoting that Navy SEALs Swim,” Lace told Breitbart. “He swam across the Hudson River a number of years in a row. And so, he’s been a big advocate for the Navy SEALs and now that he needs help, the Navy SEALs, Bill Brown has turned around and they are going to be helping Pete Hegseth in any way that they can.”

Lace explained that the Navy SEAL veterans “immediately jumped on to sign up to go and support him” and that the march is currently planned for the same day as Hegseth’s Senate confirmation hearing, which will take place in January.

In addition to the Navy SEAL veterans, Lace told Breitbart that other veterans from the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps are planning on marching, as well as members of the New York Fire Department and Gold Star parents. Retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn is expected to participate, according to Breitbart.

“The list continues to grow,” Lace said. “If you’re a patriot, if you’re a vet, you’re more than welcome to sign up and join the cause here.”

According to CBS News, following Trump’s nomination of Hegseth as defense secretary, Hegseth has been accused of sexual misconduct and financial mismanagement of veteran charity organizations.

Lace described the support Hegseth has received from veterans in the face of the accusations as “overwhelming.”

“They really feel passionate about this cause. They want to see changes in our military,” Lace said. “They’ve seen it getting weakened with this woke ideology that has taken over and just made its way into the military at the highest levels. They’re sick and tired of it. These guys are war fighters.”

“They don’t want to see the way that our military has been degraded over the last few years with this last administration and they want something to be done about it,” Lace added. “And so they’re making their voices heard loud and proud and, and they are 100 percent behind Hegseth.”
