Video: Trump reveals thoughts on civil war in Tucker Carlson interview

Former President Donald Trump addressed the possibility of a second civil war in the United States during an interview with Tucker Carlson, which aired Wednesday evening on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Do you think we’re moving toward civil war?” Carlson asked.

After an extended pause, Trump responded, “There is tremendous passion, and there’s tremendous love. You know, January 6 was a very interesting day. They don’t report it properly. I believe it was the largest crowd I’ve ever spoken before, and you know some of the crowds I’ve spoken before, like July 4th on the [National] Mall. I think they had a million people there. But I think the biggest crowd I’ve ever spoken before was on January 6.”

“We said ‘patriotically and peacefully’ ‘peacefully and patriotically.’ Nobody ever says that. Go ‘peacefully and patriotically.’ People that were in that crowd that day, a very small group of people went down [to the Capitol], and there were a lot of scenarios that we can talk about,” Trump continued.

“People in that crowd said it was the most beautiful day they’ve ever experienced. There was love and unity. I have never seen such spirit and such passion and such love. And I’ve also never seen simultaneously, and from the same people, such hatred of what they’ve done to our country.”

“So, do you think it’s possible that there’s open conflict?” Carlson added. “We seem to be moving toward something.”

“I don’t know. I don’t know. I can say this: There’s a level of passion that I’ve never seen. There’s a level of hatred that I’ve never seen. And that’s probably a bad combination,” Trump replied.

Last year, a YouGov-Economist poll found 54 percent of Trump voters believed a civil war would break out in the United States within the next ten years.

Of the 54 percent, 21 percent said a civil war is “very likely,” and 33 percent said a civil war is “somewhat likely.”
