Donald J. Trump, the only officially declared Republican candidate for 2024, posted live reactions on his Truth Social platform throughout Biden’s second State of the Union address on Tuesday night, which got a lot of interest.
Trump’s posts ranged from observations about Biden’s nutty performance, where he commented “Too much use of the word ‘folks!’” — to criticism of Republicans like Never Trumpers- who applauded during the speech.
“I notice Mitt Romney and some of the RINOs jumping up and down with applause for the wrong reasons!” Trump wrote.
Trump also shared a two-minute video slamming the Biden administration on immigration, high gas prices and crime, while he had a large platform- with people watching more for Trump’s comments than Biden’s.
In the post of the anti-Biden video, Trump wrote that Biden “worked hard tonight” and that “you’ve got to give him credit for trying.”
“I disagree with him on most of his policies, but he put into words what he felt, and he ended the evening far stronger than he began,” Trump wrote. “Many things weren’t mentioned that should have been, but that’s for another time.”
The New York Times seemed hurt by Trump’s posts, reporting:
“Trump stages his own ‘State of the Union’ speech. The former president excoriated President Biden in a two-minute videotaped message from his South Florida home.”
The sour grapes from Michael Burner:
“Eager to burnish his 2024 bona fides as some Republicans raise doubts about his third bid for the White House, former President Donald J. Trump stood Tuesday between two American flags — in his signature blue suit and red tie — and offered his own assessment of the nation.
But even the first line was incorrect. “Here’s the real State of the Union,” Mr. Trump said.
The real State of the Union was delivered earlier Tuesday by the sitting president, Joseph R. Biden Jr. For more than two years, Mr. Trump has repeated the lie that he won the 2020 election, falsely claiming that the election was stolen. His claims have been rebuked by numerous recounts, court rulings and assessments.”
CBS reported on Trump’s potent posts:
Former President Donald Trump uncorked a gusher of attacks on President Joe Biden on Tuesday, offering a bleak rebuke to Biden’s State of the Union message.
Trump accused Biden and “the radical Democrats” of failing on immigration and crime and took shots at the president’s handling of transgender issues and the U.S. involvement in the war in Ukraine.
“Joe Biden’s weaponized Justice Department — and I’m a victim of it — is persecuting his political opponents. His administration is waging war on free speech. They’re trying to indoctrinate and mutilate our children,” Trump said, appearing to read from a script as he looked into the camera, flanked by two U.S. flags. “He’s leading us to the brink of World War III.
And on top of all of that, he’s the most corrupt president in American history.”Late last month, Trump promised in another video that, if he is re-elected, he will punish doctors who provide gender-affirming care to minors. He equated the treatment to “child abuse” and “child sexual mutilation.”
He also said he would prohibit any federal agency from working to “promote the concept of sex and gender transition at any age,” not just for minors.
Trump also hit Biden on the cost of gas. Gas prices spiked last year as the war ensued in Ukraine but have since eased.
“I am running for president to end the destruction of our country and to complete the unfinished business of making America great again,” Trump said.
Jessica Marie Baumgartner reported with details of Trump’s posts, for Right Side Broadcasting:
President Trump wasted no time trolling Biden. He criticized his overuse of the word “folks.” Then he posted about how angry Biden seemed and noted, “Perhaps somebody should walk up to the dais, tap him on the shoulder, and say, “Be cool!”
President Trump called out RINOs and made fun of Biden’s misuse of words, posting, “He just stated, “American automobiles couldn’t make enough cars!”
As the speech continued, President Trump noted his disgust with Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif. Known for allegedly sleeping with a Chinese spy, Trump called him “a man who spent a lot of time in Spy Fang Fang’s ‘honey net’ and wasn’t removed from our most important Committee. Only in America!”
He shared his thoughts on Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., posting that Biden “forgot to thank Mitch McConnell and his lovely wife, Coco Chow, for giving him all of these Trillions of Dollars to waste!”
There was also time for President Trump to mention Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass. “Pocahontas is really going wild tonight—She almost has to be constrained, the only thing that will do it is the straight jacket!”
President Trump also acknowledged the media’s coverage, stating, “If I ever made a Speech like this, they’d run me out of Washington, D.C. But there’s time left, maybe he can save it.”
