Chris Christie, the former Republican governor of New Jersey, says he is the latest “target” of former President Donald Trump. He says this after saying on ABC’s This Week that Trump was so “toxic” that “boring” Joe Biden would win in 2020.
“Because Donald Trump lost, Joe Biden is the new president. Joe Biden didn’t win, and he’s never dealt with the fact that he didn’t. So he keeps doing what he did while running for office, which he thinks was great because “I won,” Christie told Jon Karl of ABC over the weekend.
“No, you didn’t win. Trump lost, and you can’t change who someone is, Jon,” Christie went on, admitting that Biden is “old” and “boring.” Christie, on the other hand, said that Biden won the last election because he was running against “someone so poisonous that he won anyway.”
Trump responded to Christie on TruthSocial by bringing up the former governor’s terrible approval ratings, the fact that his run for president failed, and his suggestion of Chris Wray for the FBI job.
“‘Sloppy’ Chris Christie, the failed former governor of New Jersey, spent almost all of his last year in office campaigning in New Hampshire for the Republican nomination for president,” Trump said.
“His campaign for President was a complete disaster, just like his time in office. When he left office, his approval rating was only 9%. The next day, he backed me. Later, he suggested Chris Wray for FBI director (how did that work out? ), he went down in flames, and then ABC FAKE NEWS SAVED HIM. He said, “I never wanted him!”
Christie then said that Trump’s new temper tantrum was aimed at him.
“None of his lies about me today bothered him when he asked me to prepare him for every general election debate or when he offered me three different cabinet positions. He is the only person outside of Delaware who has lost to Biden. Still hurts to lose to Joe,” Christie said.
Donald Trump’s new temper tantrum is aimed at me. When he asked me to help him prepare for every general election debate or offered me three different cabinet positions, none of the lies he told about me bothered him. He is the only person outside of Delaware who has lost to Biden. Joe still feels bad about that loss.

This is not the first time Christie has spoken out against Trump in public. In December, he said on ABC’s This Week that Trump was helping Democrats win, not Republicans, by pointing to the loss of former Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker.
Christie said:
And on the Donald Trump side, you know, we all remember that in 2016, he said that if he was elected, there would be so much winning that people would get tired of it. At the time, none of us knew that he was really saying that the Democrats, not the Republicans, were going to win all those races. And this is what he’s made happen. Herschel Walker was made by him. So, he has to take responsibility for the fact that Herschel Walker did so poorly in a state where, as we saw earlier, every other Republican running for statewide office except Herschel Walker won. What does that tell you? Bad candidate.
Christie also urged Republicans to dump “selfish” Trump after the midterms, but poll after poll shows Trump leading in the hypothetical 2024 presidential primary race by double digits, and some even showing him leading President Biden as well.
