Outrage of the accusations against former President Donald Trump continues.
On Friday, the Department of Justice released a heavily redacted affidavit showing Trump is being investigated for possible violations of the Espionage Act and obstruction of justice.
DOJ says in the document, “In total, Trump had 184 classified documents, 67 confidential, 25 top secret and handwritten notes in boxes returned to the National Archives, according to the document that states the FBI had ‘probable cause to believe the evidence of obstruction would be found’ at his Florida home.”
Trump has repeatedly stated that he himself declassified the documents prior to leaving office, and statements from the FBI do not address that declassification.
The affidavit also states that Trump’s Florida home did not have a secure place to secure the documents, so agents asked him to lock the basement where they had been kept.
The ‘PREMISES are not authorized to store classified information,’ it notes.
An underlying affidavit, which featured many redactions, noted the ‘government is conducting a criminal investigation concerning the improper removal and storage of classified information in unauthorized spaces, as well as the unlawful concealment or removal of government records’ adding there is ‘probable cause to believe that evidence of obstruction will be found.’
Trump has also repeatedly stated that on the FBI’s prior visit to the home, they only asked that a lock be added to the room, to which Trump complied and installed the lock they requested.
Trump has stated that he and his team have cooperated and complied with requests, and there is no wrongdoing on his or their part.
‘The DOJ and FBI are practicing Election Interference at the highest and most dishonest level our Country has ever seen before, both in the Midterms, and the 2024 Presidential Election,’ he stated on his Truth Social platform on Sunday.
Now Senator Lindsay Graham is speaking out about the consequences of the witch-hunt on Trump:
GOP Senator Lindsey Graham has warned there will be ‘riots in the streets’ if Donald Trump is indicted over his mishandling of classified documents.
Graham suggested there was a two-tiered legal system based along political lines in support of Joe Biden and against the former president.
‘Most Republicans, including me, believe when it comes to Trump, there is no law. It’s all about getting him,’ Graham said to Fox News on Sunday night.
‘There is a double standard when it comes to Trump. What happened with Hunter Biden is that the FBI weighed in to make sure the story didn’t break before the 2020 election.
‘We now have whistleblowers at the FBI telling Senator Chuck Grassley they were told to slow down and back off Hunter Biden.
‘And I’ll say this, if there is a prosecution of Donald Trump for mishandling classified information after the Clinton debacle… there will be riots in the street.
‘If they tried to prosecute President Trump for mishandling classified information after Hillary Clinton set up a server in her basement, there literally will be riots in the street.
‘I worry about the country,’ he said, comparing the situation to the controversy over Clinton’s use of a personal email server while serving as Secretary of State.
WATCH:
Senator Graham also expressed concern about how in his eyes the enforcement of the law, particularly when it came to conservative Republicans is enforced differently.
Graham said that he felt the FBI’s raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago proved that there was a ‘double standard’ in federal enforcement that might push people to do violent things, Daily Mail reports.
“You love the law and I love the law. I’ve never been more worried about the law in politics as I am right now. How can you tell a conservative Republican that the system works when it comes to President Trump?
What happened in Crossfire Hurricane, it was a joke of an investigation. People lied and manipulated the evidence. Look at what happened to Hunter Biden. They gave him a complete pass, apparently. And social media outlets suppressed information that could have mattered.”
Graham also weighed in on the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan which saw 13 U.S. service members killed.
“President Biden says he has no regrets about what he did in Afghanistan. He is a fool if he really believes that. I have a lot of regrets about what he did. I regret the fact that we left thousands of our allies behind who bravely fought along our side. I regret the fact that all of the women that kind of believed in us have been turned back over to the Taliban. I regret the fact that Afghanistan will become another breeding ground for terrorism and most likely another 9/11 will emanate there, going through a broken southern border.”
“If Joe Biden doesn’t regret what he did in Afghanistan, he really is deaf, dumb and blind,” Graham added.
