Trump releases video hours after FBI raided him

Former President Donald Trump released a new campaign-style video early Tuesday morning after he announced FBI agents had raided his office space and personal residence at Mar-A-Lago.

The nearly 4-minute video, which was posted to Trump’s Truth Social account, begins with Trump speaking on the current state of the country, while the sound of thunder rolls in the background. The speech is a snippet of the speech Trump gave at CPAC 2022 on Saturday.

“We are a nation in decline, we are a failing nation, we are a nation that has the highest inflation in over 40 years, where the stock market just finished the worst first half of a year in more than five decades,” Trump begins in the video.

From criticisms of the economy and energy policy, Trump moves on to criticize Biden’s handling of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, which he said showed the U.S. “leaving behind dead soldiers, American citizens and 85 billion dollars worth of the finest military equipment.”

13 U.S. military service members were indeed killed in a suicide bombing during the Afghanistan withdrawal. The U.S. also left tons of gear behind in Afghanistan including some that had to either be destroyed or left available to the Taliban. The U.S. invested about $85 billion backing a now defunct Afghan military, with that cost covering equipment as well as training for those forces over the years.

In the video, Trump also says the U.S. allowed Russia to invade Ukraine, killing “hundreds of thousands” of people, adding that it “will only get worse.”

“We’re a nation that has weaponized its law enforcement against the opposing political party like never before,” Trump says in the video. “We’ve never seen anything like this.”

In the video, Trump also says the U.S. “no longer has a free and fair press.”

“Fake news is about all you get,” he adds.

He also said the U.S. “is allowing Iran to build a massive nuclear weapon” and allowing China to “build a military to rival our own.”

“We are a nation that, over the past two years, is no longer respected or listened to all around the world,” Trump says.

The footage eventually shifts from black and white to color as Trump says, “But soon we will have greatness again.”

“It was hard-working patriots like you who built this country and it is hard-working patriots like you who are going to save our country. There is no mountain we cannot climb, there is no summit we cannot reach, there is no challenge we cannot meet, there is no victory we cannot have. We will not bend. We will not break. We will not yield ever ever ever. We will never give in we will never give up and we will never ever back down. We will never let you down as long as we are confident and united.”

“The tyrants we’re fighting do not stand even a little chance because we are Americans and Americans kneel to god and god alone and it is time to start talking about greatness for our country,” Trump concludes in the video.

At the end of the video, a caption reads ” . . . the best is yet to come.” The ending may hint at a possible new political run.

Trump is widely rumored to be planning another presidential run in 2024 after winning office in 2016 but losing office for a second term in 2020.
