The May 2 Politico article with the leaked document from the US Supreme Court hinted at the eventual overturning of Roe V. Wade, after 50 years, was a motivating factor in at least one death plot against three other justices, new information is showing.
A new report about the FBI says that the man who was charged in the attempted assassination of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh had planned to kill three Supreme Court justices and that searches on his computer exposed that he had looked up terms such as “most effective place to stab someone” and “quietest semi auto rifle.”
Nicholas John Roske, 26, was arrested very early morning outside of Kavanaugh’s suburban Maryland home in June with a pistol, ammunition, a knife, and burglary gear and allegedly intended to kill Kavanaugh.
According to the new report, the FBI said that Roske, prior to his arrest, had looked up terms such as “most effective place to stab someone” and “quietest semi-auto rifle.”
Roske pleaded not guilty last month to the federal charge of attempted murder.
Other search terms from Roske’s phone, which was taken by investigators when he was arrested, include searches such as “assassin skills,” “how to be stealthy,” and a list of current Supreme Court members.
“As part of the investigation, FBI agents are requesting search warrants for Google accounts and online chatlogs they believe belong to Roske and include searches and online messages from Roske, CNN reported.
Agents filed the warrant application to search Google accounts and online chat logs they thought belonged to Roske.
Poske reportedly told a person over the messaging platform Discord in May that he was “gonna stop roe v wade from being overturned” and would “remove some people from the supreme court.”
The user allegedly told Roske his plan would not work.
The warrant revealed that Roske, who used the email address [email protected], was not going to stop at Kavanaugh and planned to target at least two other unnamed Supreme Court justices.
According to the FBI warrant, Roske responded: “[Y]eah but I could get at least one, which would change the votes for decades to come, and I am shooting for 3.”
“Two dead judges ain’t gonna do nothing,” the unnamed user told Roske. “You would die before you killed them all.”
The search history on Roske’s phone, which investigators took from Roske when he was arrested and got a search warrant for the next day, also includes searches for “assassin skills” and equipment, “how to be stealthy,” and the Supreme Court’s website listing current members.
Roske told the FBI he was motivated by the Politico leak.
According to court documents, Roske told investigators that he was upset over the leaked Supreme Court draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade and the potential for Kavanaugh to help loosen gun laws in the country. But, according to investigators, Roske decided to kill Kavanaugh after thinking about giving his life purpose.
The May 2 leak of the SCOTUS decision to overturn Roe V. Wade was seen as a part of the plan to pressure the Justices by igniting the street activists on the left.
The inflammatory leak story reported:
“The Supreme Court has voted to strike down the landmark Roe v. Wade decision, according to an initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito circulated inside the court and obtained by POLITICO.
The draft opinion is a full-throated, unflinching repudiation of the 1973 decision, which guaranteed federal constitutional protections of abortion rights, and a subsequent 1992 decision — Planned Parenthood v. Casey — that largely maintained the right. “Roe was egregiously wrong from the start,” Alito writes.”
And was designed to enflame sensitive people on the topic:
“The immediate impact of the ruling as drafted in February would be to end a half-century guarantee of federal constitutional protection of abortion rights and allow each state to decide whether to restrict or ban abortion. It’s unclear if there have been subsequent changes to the draft.
No draft decision in the court’s modern history has been disclosed publicly while a case was still pending. The unprecedented revelation is bound to intensify the debate over what was already the most controversial case on the docket this term,” Politico reported.
And they put a target on four justices:
“A person familiar with the court’s deliberations said that four of the other Republican-appointed justices — Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett — had voted with Alito in the conference held among the justices after hearing oral arguments in December, and that line-up remains unchanged as of this week,” the outlet reported.
And hinted to them that the decision could be changed:
“Roberts also stressed that the draft opinion “does not represent a decision by the Court or the final position of any member on the issues in the case.” The court spokesperson had declined comment pre-publication,” Politico reported.
