While the shocking death of Donald Trump’s first wife, Ivana Trump will surely weigh on the family and change schedules a bit, it’s going to be a busy rest of the year for the former president.
Ivana was the mother of Don. Jr, Ivanka, and Eric Trump. A grieving Ivanka paid tribute to her late mother saying “Heartbroken by the passing of my mother. Mom was brilliant, charming, passionate and wickedly funny. She lived life to the fullest — never forgoing an opportunity to laugh and dance. I will miss her forever and will keep her memory alive in our hearts always.”
As the midterms get closer, the Democrat-run J6 committee will attempt to distract the American people from the economic disaster they have created in an attempt to hold onto the House.
President Trump will also be much more active as he stumps for candidates in tight races where Democrat office holders are in danger of losing.
Trump will actually return to DC this month for a major speaking engagement for the first time since he left office – Basically daring the J6 committee members to come and get him.
It’s also expected that the former president will announce whether he will run again in 2024. As we know in politics, timing and optics is everything.
In an exclusive interview with Olvia Nuzzi of New Yorker Magazine, Trump said about running, “Well, in my own mind, I’ve already made that decision, so nothing factors in anymore. In my own mind, I’ve already made that decision.”
He also said “Look, I feel very confident that, if I decide to run, I’ll win.”
The Washington Post is claiming that sources say Trump will announce his run in September.
According to MIC Magazine “several unnamed “Trump Advisors” who spoke with the Washington Post this week, the former president is looking to announce his next campaign for the White House in September, just in time to play a major — if unpredictable — role in the upcoming midterms some two months later. While nothing is set in stone, one advisor put it at “70-30 he announces” before November, while another noted that “you can only hold him off so long. One day he’ll wake up and say, ‘Put it out.’”
Some Republicans, however, worry that by launching his bid for the presidency in September, Trump could play accidental spoiler for his own party’s odds at retaking one, or both chambers of congress, as they’re widely expected to do.
While a Trump campaign would certainly galvanize his core base of supporters, it would also potentially have a similar effect among Democrats already seeking — and in some cases succeeding — to regain the offensive after a series of Republican victories expanding gun rights, and restricting reproductive healthcare access. A Trump announcement ahead of the midterms also risks sucking the oxygen away from down-ticket candidates, and diverting their much needed fundraising avenues.
Trey Gowdy, the former representative for South Carolina’s 4th congressional district said on Fox News that Trump should not announce his run before the midterms so as not to give Democrats an edge.
Other GOP leaders have sounded off about the possibility of an early announcement, also.
“Yeah, I think we’d like to just kind of keep the accelerator down and push hard into November,” Sen. John Thune, the second-ranking Republican in the chamber, said Monday. “I think we’ve got, you know, the issues set and everything the political landscapes, environment’s favorable. And I think the fewer disruptions obviously, the better, but, you know, I don’t have any control over what he may or may not do or when he may do it.”
Fox News’ senior political analyst Brit Hume warned against Trump announcing early as it would put Republican candidates in a tricky position.
Of course, Trump is going to do Trump. He typically bucks tradition.
After he spoke at his final rally at the Ellipse in DC on January 6 last year, the song he picked to play was “I did it my way.” I remember thinking how true that was as I left behind the arrogant CNN reporters who were next to me on one of the media risers and as I filmed people exiting the area that day.
Trump continued with the NYer Mag reporter about the possibility of announcing a 2024 run early, “I would say my big decision will be whether I go before or after,” he said. “You understand what that means?” His tone was conspiratorial. Was he referring to the midterm elections?
He repeated after me: “Midterms.” Suddenly, he relaxed, as though my speaking the word had somehow set it free for discussion. “Do I go before or after? That will be my big decision,” he said.”
“I just think that there are certain assets to before,” Trump said. “Let people know. I think a lot of people would not even run if I did that because, if you look at the polls, they don’t even register. Most of these people. And I think that you would actually have a backlash against them if they ran. People want me to run.”
