Trump says Musk would’ve ‘begged for help on his knees’ in Oval Office meeting in latest attack

A feud between former President Donald Trump and billionaire tech CEO Elon Musk continued Tuesday evening, with Trump taking to his social media platform Truth Social to drag Musk for allegedly being desperate for Trump’s help.

“When Elon Musk came to the White House asking me for help on all of his many subsidized projects, whether it’s electric cars that don’t drive long enough, driverless cars that crash, or rocketships to nowhere, without which subsidies he’d be worthless, and telling me how he was a big Trump fan and Republican, I could have said, “drop to your knees and beg,” and he would have done it…,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“…Now Elon should focus on getting himself out of the Twitter mess because he could owe $44 billion for something that’s perhaps worthless,” Trump continued in a second Truth. “Also, lots of competition for electric cars!”

In a third post, Trump added, “P.S., Why was Elon allowed to break the $15 million stock purchase barrier on Twitter without any reporting? That is a very serious breach! Have fun Elon and @jack, go to it!”

Musk responded to Trump’s first post with “Lmaooo” and a The Simpsons meme seemingly to mock Trump.

Trump’s latest attack comes just days after the former president called Musk a “bullsh-t artist” during a rally in Anchorage, Alaska.

“Elon is not going to buy Twitter. Where did you hear that before? From me. He’s got himself a mess. You know what he said the other day? He said, ‘Oh, I’ve never voted for a Republican.’ I said, I didn’t know that, he told me he voted for me. So he’s another bullsh-t artist, but he’s not going to be buying [Twitter],” Trump said at his rally.

Trump’s claims were promptly rejected by Musk, who wrote they were “not true” on Twitter Monday night.

On another Twitter thread, Musk said that he doesn’t “hate” Trump, but argued that it’s time for Trump to “hang up his hat.”

“I don’t hate the man, but it’s time for Trump to hang up his hat & sail into the sunset. Dems should also call off the attack – don’t make it so that Trump’s only way to survive is to regain the Presidency,” Musk wrote on Twitter.

“Trump would be 82 at end of term, which is too old to be chief executive of anything, let alone the United States of America,” Musk added in a separate tweet. “If DeSantis runs against Biden in 2024, then DeSantis will easily win – he doesn’t even need to campaign.”
