Trump returns to social media – here’s what he posted

Former President Donald Trump officially announced his return to social media via his TRUTH Social platform on Thursday evening.

“I’M BACK! #COVFEFE,” Trump posted on his TRUTH Social account along with a photo of him standing in front of his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

In February, Trump had made his first post, which teased his upcoming presence on the platform.

“Great Ready! Your favorite President will see you soon!” he said in the post.

Trump said on Monday that he would not return to Twitter despite billionaire tech CEO Elon Musk’s successful acquisition of the social media platform. Trump said he would instead begin using his own platform TRUTH Social within the next week.

“I am not going on Twitter, I am going to stay on TRUTH,” Trump told Fox News on Monday. “I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on TRUTH.”

TRUTH Social, operated by the Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), was announced in October 2021 when it became available for preorder on the Apple App store.

“Trump Media & Technology Group’s mission is to create a rival to the liberal media consortium and fight back against the ‘Big Tech’ companies of Silicon Valley, which have used their unilateral power to silence opposing voices in America,” Trump Media & Technology Group stated in a press release emailed to American Military News at the time.

Trump said at the time he created TRUTH Social and TMTG to “stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech.” He added, “We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced.”

“This is unacceptable. I am excited to send out my first TRUTH on TRUTH Social very soon. TMTG was founded with a mission to give a voice to all. I’m excited to soon begin sharing my thoughts on TRUTH Social and to fight back against Big Tech. Everyone asks me why doesn’t someone stand up to Big Tech? Well, we will be soon!”
